HiFi Control includes a Dirac Preset Compare Tool that lets you compare presets directly from your desktop. Select which presets to include, then cycle through them while music plays. Each switch seeks playback to a set position so you hear the same passage every time.
How It Works
- Select a track you want to loop in your player.
- Open the Dirac Preset Compare Tool from the Dirac section in HiFi Control.
- Toggle on the presets you want to include in the comparison.
- Set the seek position to the passage you want to compare.
- Press Next → to begin cycling through presets.
Cycling Through Presets
Use the ← Previous and Next → buttons to switch between the selected presets. Each switch activates the next preset and seeks playback back to the set position so you hear the same passage again. You can also use keyboard shortcuts: ← → to cycle and Space to restart the current preset.
Seek Position
To get a fair comparison you need to hear the same passage each time. Set the seek position to the start of the section you want to evaluate. Every time you switch presets, playback jumps back to that position automatically.
Use Cases
- Finding your preferred room correction curve. Dirac Live often generates multiple filter options. Cycle through them to pick the one that sounds best in your listening position.
- Before and after comparison. Include a corrected preset and a flat or bypassed preset to hear exactly what Dirac is doing.
- Sharing with others. Let someone else listen and cycle through presets themselves to get a second opinion.
Getting Started
The Dirac Preset Compare Tool is available in HiFi Control v1.0 and requires a Pro licence. Open the Dirac section in the main window to get started.
